Areas of Expertise

Individual Counseling

Whether you are a seasoned therapy veteran or this is your first experience, individual counseling is beneficial for anyone who is searching for a safe, confidential place to explore past traumas, anxieties, life transitions, or any other stressors that are thrown at you.  I provide individual counseling services for anyone over the age of 12.

Accepted insurances include: Blue Cross Blue Shield, United Healthcare, Mississippi Medicaid (Magnolia, UHC, and Molina), Ambetter, SAS,

Humana, and Cigna.  I offer a discounted rate for clients who do not have insurance coverage.  Please contact me directly for more information regarding insurance and fees.

Mindfulness, Meditation, and Holistic Health

Aside from my background in counseling, I am also passionate about mindfulness, meditation, and holistic health.  Holistic therapy simply means that when you focus on the relationship between mind, body, and spirit, you can address the way issues in one aspect of your life lead to concerns in other areas as well.  By integrating these techniques into therapy, I am able to offer my clients a unique approach to manage the uncomfortable symptoms of anxiety, burnout, fatigue, and stress through diet, movement, breath, and energy work. I will often utilize Internal Family Systems, Transpersonal Psychology, and discuss spirituality and existential topics, as needed.

LGBTQ+ Affirming Care

I have always strived to make my services readily available to the LGBTQ+ community in the state of Mississippi.  I provide support, respect, and encouragement for ALL people, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, and religion.  I believe that therapy is essential, and no one should have to feel that they do not have access to support.  Since my services are primarily virtual, I am able to assist anyone struggling with gender and/or sexual identity from anywhere in the state.

About Me

I am a native of Petal, MS and moved to the Mississippi Gulf Coast in 2011.  I obtained my undergraduate degree in Psychology from the University of Southern Mississippi in 2009, and received my Master's degree in Child and Adolescent Therapy from William Carey University in 2012. My professional experience consists of working as an adult services case manager in 2009 and a family, adolescent, and child clinician from 2012-2015.  I worked closely with DHS and the Harrison County Youth Court during this time.  In 2017, I worked as a Military Family Life Counselor and provided services to the children, families, and service members in the U.S. Navy.  I opened my private practice in June of 2015 and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (#1984) for the State of Mississippi. I am a Board Certified Telemental Health Provider (#1666) and can accommodate clients electronically throughout the state of Mississippi.  I am also a Certified Holistic Health Practitioner and a 200-hour Registered Yoga Teacher through Yoga Alliance.

I currently reside in Orlando, FL, but I maintain my office in Gulfport, MS where I am able to meet with clients monthly in person.  However, my practice is primarily virtual.  If you feel that I may be a good fit for you individual needs, you can email me directly at katie@katiermasonlpc.com or submit an appointment request directly from the homepage.

*Please note that if I am not currently accepting new clients, my availability feature will be turned off.  However, feel free to email me directly to be placed on my waitlist.*
